Macro Monday ~ Tiny Toes {Lake County IL, Newborn Photographer}

I love how itty bitty toes and feet can be.  They are all pink and rosy, no imperfections to see, no miles yet put on their soles. Looking at little feet always makes me wonder, where will these little feet take this little one?  Will they experience sandy beaches, soft green grass, squishy carpets or even the coolness of ocean water? Will they carry them for miles running through the trails or down snowy slopes? I love remembering what it was like running through the grass in the summer and dipping my toes in the ocean for the first time. I’m pretty sure we’ve all experienced stepping on the thorn bushes before we realized what those prickly little plants were or dipping our toes in the cold salty ocean water for the first time. I image these little toes having that first wave of water rush over them and followed by shrills and giggles as they quickly run back before experiencing the next wave.  These little toes have so many experiences to encounter!

What is the biggest memory you have with your toes?  Were you like my husband and tried walking across newly laid asphalt barefoot in the summer and burned your feet? Or were you like me and kept your feet tucked away in socks and shoes afraid to get a scratch on your toes?

Purple – Sugar & Spice Inspiration {Lake County IL, Newborn Photographer}

This week I thought I would share my second favorite color for little girls…any guesses?  It’s PURPLE!

My little sister’s favorite color was purple…I remember this purple little car that she had growling up and is still saving it 20 plus years later for her children.  My little sister was the cute little girlie girl who loved everything pink, purple, and sparkly.  I believe she had a few prom dresses that were purple in color as well!  The great thing with purple is that it never really goes out of style for a little girl. It can be dressed up to be light and airy with a white or cream background or it can add some deepness to the purple color with a gray background.  I love dark purple with dark hair, it makes for a happy little marriage.  Purple thought, is really a very versatile color…you can mix it with different shades and get even a different look.  I love having darker and lighter shades of purple wraps with a few light purple bows.

This little color is my second go to color with little girls and I think the sweetness that is gives a photo is perfect for your precious newborn!

Take a peek as some of my purple samples below:

One Year Plus Journey {Lake County IL, Photographer}

This past month a year+ photography journey has come to a semi-end. I only say semi-end because I won’t get to see these five nearly as much as I did over the past year. I adored getting to see the three E’s every three months…they made every photo session full of laughs and smiles. It’s been amazing to see how over the course of a year two older siblings can welcome in a new little one to their duo – now trio. Big sister has grown more and more in love with her baby brother and I think baby brother even grew a little smitten with his big sister. I love when little ones are learning to give kisses and all you get is a big open mouth on your cheek!

I loved being able to capture all of the special moments a little one has during their first year.  First, they are cute and cuddly as newborns. Then, they start to show arm strength and head strength with pushing up. Next, they show balance with being able to sit. After that, they show desire to stand with kneeling. And lastly, they are standing! It’s so amazing to look back over this year and see these special moments within Baby E’s first year.

It was also a joy to see the older two grow and show their personalities more and more during each visit. It was so great to be able to capture the flower picking, tomato picking, toy playing moments along with Baby E.

I can’t wait to see this handsome, brown eyed, cutie continue to grow up! (Along with his siblings.)

Macro Monday ~ Lashes For Days {Lake County IL, Newborn Photographer}

It’s so amazing how precious even the tiniest of details on new little babies melt your heart. Eyelashes are the perfect example of this tiny detail that I love looking at and smiling. When you think about how tiny your eye lashes are as an adult, it’s even more amazing to see how itty bitty newborn eye lashes are! These delicate pieces of hair are guarding precious brown / blue / hazel eyes. When I photograph eye lashes I love to make them the sole focus of the image…they are so tiny, they deserve to be so big.

Sugar & Spice Inspiration {Lake County IL, Newborn Photographer}

Overall, when it comes to styling your little newborn I just adore it! My husband has to put me on a prop budget or I would go overboard!  I love seeing the latest trends in photography props and colors. I wanted to start a little fun where I share some items that inspire my color choices and share some of my associated props.

This week I’m starting with “The Classic” for little girls…pink.

I love little girls in pink.  Pink reminds me of sweet squishy newborn lips and beautiful little stork kisses. It’s a color that never goes out of style and helps gently share that your little one is a girl.  I like to add pink in the photos with the use of a little headband, knit hat, or even a stretchy wrap.

When it comes to matching a color with pink you can never go wrong with white or cream!  These colors helps balance the color scheme and really brings the focus to your little one.  I love using a neutral blanket that brightens up your little one and makes them just glow! My favorite blanket has a nice little knit texture to it that adds even more softness to your little one and helps show their sweetness and delicateness.

When it comes to where I get my cute little pink headbands, one of my favorite vendors Abbey from The Pleated Polka Dot.  She is so quick when you order items and they fit perfectly on all sizes.  I love the width of the headbands and how they add just a pop of color to your daughter without being to large or the center of attention in the photo. You can see more from The Pleated Polka Dot here.

Below are a few of my favorite images with pink.
What do you think of this classic color ?
