Waiting for Little Brother {Round Lake IL, Maternity Photographer}

Are you ready to see the most adorable maternity photo session and the more adorable big brother? I have the cutest family for you! Waiting for another member to the join the family is full of excitement and nerves.

Will big brother love his little sibling?
How will our family handle going from the 3 musketeers to a family of 4?
Am I ready to see my first baby be a big brother?

I ask myself these are questions when thinking about having more babies and these are questions I’m sure every mommy / daddy think about when growing their family. This adorable family is taking that leap and going from 3 to 4 with such calmness I am jealous. They are all cool, calm, and collected. I pray I am the same way if we are able to grow our family!

I photographed big brother when he was brand new and when mommy and daddy were waiting for his arrival so I was so excited to get to photograph baby #2. Watching a family grow is just so amazing and special for me. Big brother was perfect during our photo session and he is seriously one of the most adorable little boys I have ever met!

I love the colors and outfits that mommy picked out for everyone to wear. The photo session was early in the day and the light / location were perfect. The forest preserves we are surrounded by are always beautiful and they alway provide such a simple classic backdrop for family photos. Also, don’t worry…we did take the photos earlier this year so the weather was sweater weather and we weren’t sweating during the photo session.

Take a peak at how cute this trio is and I will give you a little spoiler…baby brother is just as adorable as big brother!

First Little Blessing {Glencoe Beach IL, Maternity Photographer}

This duo was so adorable during their maternity photo session at Glencoe Beach! They are expecting their first little one and they couldn’t be more excited for his arrival. Mommy and Daddy are going to be the sweetest parents…I just know it! Mommy and Daddy were college sweet-hearts who have been waiting patiently for this little blessing.

We picked out the perfect location for their photos, Glencoe Beach. I’ve never been there before but within 60 seconds of arriving I was so excited for our photo session. The water background, the beautiful stone walkway, and the adorable little beach house was amazing and their photos prove it. The weather was perfect for our session too! We also visited a few spots outside of Glencoe Beach during our photo session to add extra variety to their photos. There is an adorable train station downtown that was the perfect background to capture a few fun / personal photos. Mommy and Daddy went to school in the New York Area so we had to do a few Yankee images for Dad and toss in an alma-mater image for a fun school announcement.

I love the colors that Mommy picked out for her maternity photos. The dresses were perfect to show off her adorable little baby bump while daddy was able to stay comfy in classic golf polos. It’s always important that everyone is comfortable in what they wear for their photos. Many people can feel nervous in-front of the camera and the last thing you want to add to your nerves is feeling unsure of your clothes.

Take a peek and see the cuteness that ensued during our Glencoe Beach Maternity photo session.

2016 in Review {Lake County IL, Newborn Photographer}

This year has been one that dreams are made of…ok so maybe I’m being a little dramatic but it’s true. This year has been pretty darn amazing and it has set the bar really high for 2017!

Why was this year so amazing…I achieved one of my biggest dreams and became a mom. I struggled for years to become a mom and went through a lot, both physically and emotionally, on my journey to motherhood. Looking back over the past few years though, I wouldn’t change my journey in any way. It has shaped me to be the mom and woman I was meant to be and have become. It has made me more compassionate to others who are struggling with their own fertility journeys and has taught me to cherish every minute I get with my little man / family. I hope that anyone who is going through their own fertility journey knows they are not alone and that regardless of the outcome your life will still be beautiful.

I love how through Instagram you can see my top posts and it re-iterates how blessed this past year has been by showing numerous images of my little man in my most popular posts of 2016. (I also find it a little humorous that there appears to be a little Bears vs Packers rivalry going on.) 2016 has been a year all about “FAMILY”…starting my family, loving my family, spending time with my family, and growing my family. So what does 2017 have in store for me this year?

I hope to focus on my “HEALTH”. Becoming a HEALTHier version of my current self, finding a HEALTHy balance between family and business,  strengthening my spiritual HEALTH, and growing my photography business into a HEALTHy business.

  • Physical Health – Since I am no longer pregnant or trying to become pregnant I can get back into my love of running! I had to take a little hiatus during my fertility journey and I’m ready to lace back up my running shoes and seeing where my feet take me.
  • Family Health – Being a mom means learning how to balance numerous responsibilities instantaneously! I’ve always been someone who never says “no” and never takes time for herself…and this year I plan to find a good balance between work time and family time.
  • Spiritual Health – God has really showed me how amazing he is with creating the perfect little baby for my family that I can’t help but want to grow in my relationship with him!
  • Business Health – I can’t wait to share with you all the fun things I have planned for 2017 and for Kate Fredrick Photography! I want my business to be one that blesses families with memories that will last a lifetime because I truly have learned and understand how precious new babies are to a family!

I hope you will join me on my journey and come along for the ride in 2017!

What do you want to achieve in 2017?

Cozy Indoor Baby Bump {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Sometimes things don’t always go as planned…it rains the day of your BBQ or you get sick right before a big vacation. I know the last thing you want to hear are the words “Life happens”…but it does. The only way to not let these ruined plans ruin your experience is to realize that what you have is often times just as perfect and maybe even better!  Maybe having an outdoor BBQ would limit how much engagement you had with your guests and being inside was a more intimate experience?  Maybe getting sick before vacation meant that you would force yourself to rest and relax more than what you would normally do and come back more rejuvenated and refreshed? Sometimes things don’t always go as planned with photo sessions…but part of my job is to make you realize that that tiny change doesn’t matter!

This mommy and daddy had a few changes with their maternity photo session. First we had some rainy weekends, then we had an almost birthday come sooner than anticipated…but in the end we managed to capture some very precious memories.  Sometimes Mommy’s and Daddy’s are nervous that their house isn’t pretty enough or clean enough for photos indoors and I always reassure them that things will be just fine. You never realized how much light you get in your bedroom when you open the curtain a bit or how dramatic and attractive the light can be coming from your living room windows, with the help of a little strategic chaise placement.

Being inside for this maternity session helped mommy and daddy feel cozy and relaxed with each other…they were able to snuggle up with ease and we even got to include their first fur baby in a photo. Sometimes, these cozy, at home sessions can be a favorite of mine…

Sunset Maternity {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Something changes when you become a photographer…you notice things you never noticed before…it’s like you have a 6th sense that comes out of hiding. What is this extra sense…it’s knowing when a good sunset is going to happen!  Maybe that’s more like becoming a meteorologist / photographer.  The evening we did this maternity photo session I could just tell it was going to be beautiful and I don’t think the sun disappointed!

The icing to the cake of a perfect sunset was having awesome clients to take photos of during the great summer light.  Jessica and Mike were so fabulous to work with! I get that taking photos isn’t the top on any man’s priority list (my husband absolutely hates getting his photo taken) but Mike was such a great sport and so in love with his beautifully glowing mommy-to-be-wife!

We picked one of my favorite spots to photograph in Lake County and let the sunset do it’s magic around us! I love capturing the last few moments a couple has before a new addition changes their lives. The sweet little smiles and belly rubs is so precious!  I can’t wait to meet the little one inside and see those same sweet little smiles given towards their new baby.

Take a peek at our time together and you’ll see what I mean when I say the sunset was magic!
