Cozy Indoor Baby Bump {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Sometimes things don’t always go as planned…it rains the day of your BBQ or you get sick right before a big vacation. I know the last thing you want to hear are the words “Life happens”…but it does. The only way to not let these ruined plans ruin your experience is to realize that what you have is often times just as perfect and maybe even better!  Maybe having an outdoor BBQ would limit how much engagement you had with your guests and being inside was a more intimate experience?  Maybe getting sick before vacation meant that you would force yourself to rest and relax more than what you would normally do and come back more rejuvenated and refreshed? Sometimes things don’t always go as planned with photo sessions…but part of my job is to make you realize that that tiny change doesn’t matter!

This mommy and daddy had a few changes with their maternity photo session. First we had some rainy weekends, then we had an almost birthday come sooner than anticipated…but in the end we managed to capture some very precious memories.  Sometimes Mommy’s and Daddy’s are nervous that their house isn’t pretty enough or clean enough for photos indoors and I always reassure them that things will be just fine. You never realized how much light you get in your bedroom when you open the curtain a bit or how dramatic and attractive the light can be coming from your living room windows, with the help of a little strategic chaise placement.

Being inside for this maternity session helped mommy and daddy feel cozy and relaxed with each other…they were able to snuggle up with ease and we even got to include their first fur baby in a photo. Sometimes, these cozy, at home sessions can be a favorite of mine…

Sunset Maternity {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Something changes when you become a photographer…you notice things you never noticed before…it’s like you have a 6th sense that comes out of hiding. What is this extra sense…it’s knowing when a good sunset is going to happen!  Maybe that’s more like becoming a meteorologist / photographer.  The evening we did this maternity photo session I could just tell it was going to be beautiful and I don’t think the sun disappointed!

The icing to the cake of a perfect sunset was having awesome clients to take photos of during the great summer light.  Jessica and Mike were so fabulous to work with! I get that taking photos isn’t the top on any man’s priority list (my husband absolutely hates getting his photo taken) but Mike was such a great sport and so in love with his beautifully glowing mommy-to-be-wife!

We picked one of my favorite spots to photograph in Lake County and let the sunset do it’s magic around us! I love capturing the last few moments a couple has before a new addition changes their lives. The sweet little smiles and belly rubs is so precious!  I can’t wait to meet the little one inside and see those same sweet little smiles given towards their new baby.

Take a peek at our time together and you’ll see what I mean when I say the sunset was magic!

Summer Lovin’ {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Memorial Day weekend is the kickoff to summer, and living in the Midwest we are continuously rolling the dice with warm days and cold days. This day though was perfect for Heather and Dave. The temperature was spot on, no heavy winds, and beautiful sunlight. I picked this specific location because it gave us the option to play in the water without being in Lake Michigan and provide a perfect Lake County feel to the maternity photos. We met early on Saturday morning to beat the cookout crowds and enjoy some quite moments before everyone’s weekend festivities would begin. I thought we would be the first ones at the park, but I couldn’t believe how early some people must like starting their Memorial weekend parties.

I love meeting first time parents-to-be. I get so excited thinking about the amazing time they are soon to experience that will change their lives forever. I also love seeing how cozy and loving parents-to-be are with each other. Heather and Dave were no exception and I could tell right away that these two were going to be adorable. They had zero problems cozying up to one another and they were open to getting a little wet. The results are purely beautiful memories before their little one arrives!

Cute As A Button Bump {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Be forewarned you are about to experience super little bump cuteness!

This couple was too much to handle during our session together…trust me, you’ll understand when you see how cute they are…and I had such a hard time picking a few photos from their session to share with you!  Not only are they adorable and sweet but they are also fur parents! They have two cute little cats that made sure to get in on the photo action during our time together.

I loved how mom picked out the perfect colors for her photos. Does she not look so adorable in everything she put on?!?!  Dad was also so cute…he would gently touch Mom’s little bump during the session…the sweet little touches that make you just go “Awe” but not in the cheesy way at all…in the super cute, he is going to be a great dad way.

I just got news that their little one arrived and I can’t wait to meet their newest addition!

Time for your cuteness overload!

Becoming 4 {Lake County IL, Maternity Photographer}

Being a mom myself to two fur babies, it always makes my heart melt when couples include their fur babies in their photo session with their soon to be first little baby.  Fur babies are a big part of the family and can’t be forgotten with the crazy happenings of new additions. This pup was a pure doll during our time together.  I can’t wait to see him with his little sibling…I’m sure it will be love and protection at first sight.  Mom and Dad were such great troopers during our time together.  Midwest, sunset, summer is a bad mixture for mosquitoes.  But you have to admit this location is worth it.  I think it’s safe to even say that this location is my favorite spot ever!
